The Meaning Behind the Name
In Chinese astrology, 2026 is the Year of the Horse and is defined by energy, independence, confidence, and powerful forward motion. The horse symbolizes a spirit that will not be contained—one fueled by agility, resilience, and endurance. It is a year when momentum gathers quickly, when new paths reveal themselves, and when individuals are encouraged to trust their instincts and step boldly into what comes next.
For me, this symbolism resonates deeply. The Year of the Horse represents a turning point—a moment to become stronger, faster, wiser, and more aligned with my purpose than ever before. It reflects not only reinvention, but the courage to claim the life I am meant to lead.
This meaning is intertwined with the quiet legacy of my mother, her love of horses—particularly her mares. It was her pursuit of equine knowledge, her way of forging relationships, and ultimately her path to shaping an identity for herself and my older brother. Through her devotion, I witnessed what it looks like to build a life anchored in curiosity, passion, and the courage to define oneself.
Understanding her passion ignited something in me. It taught me to seek out the experiences, people and locations that both center and challenge me, bring me joy, and that intertwine both grit and heart. It showed me that identity is created, through engagement with the people, work, and passions that make us feel most alive and connected.
Mare + Co. is the continuation of that inheritance—the bold momentum of the Horse paired with my mother’s unspoken influence—guiding me toward my own full stride, honoring where I come from, and empowering me to live a life fully engaged with purpose and passion.
